What we do
BusinessFade is an independent editorial publication. We write guides that explain how everyday financial and security systems work: what a credit score is actually measuring, what a credit freeze does, what happens after a data breach, what a privacy setting changes, and what a paid service does and does not deliver.
Our audience is ordinary consumers and small business owners in the United States. We assume no background in finance or technology, and we try to answer the question that was actually asked rather than the one that is easiest to write about.

- Credit — scores, reports, monitoring, disputes and debt
- Cybersecurity — identity theft, scams, data breaches and account security

How we research
We work from primary sources wherever they exist: federal agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the IRS and the Social Security Administration; the credit bureaus and scoring model developers; and the published documentation and terms of the products we describe. Where a guide relies on specific sources, we list them at the end of the article.
Every guide is reviewed before publication and dated. When rules, prices or products change, we update the article and show the revision date. Our full standards are set out in our Editorial Policy.
What we are not
We are not a bank, lender, credit repair company, law firm or financial advisory firm, and nothing here is personalized financial, legal or tax advice. We do not sell the products we write about, and we do not tell readers that any product guarantees a result.
We are a small publication. We do not claim a large staff, industry awards, certifications or decades of institutional history, and you should be skeptical of any consumer site that does so without evidence.
